Zazie Beetz

Biography

Zazie Olivia Beetz (born June 1, 1991) is a German-American actress. She has received various accolades, most notably an Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in Atlanta in 2018. Additionally, she has been nominated for Screen Actors Guild Awards and Critics' Choice Movie Awards for her participation in high-profile film and television productions.

​She began her career appearing in short films before landing her first significant role in the movie Applesauce (2015). Her breakthrough came in 2016 when she was cast as Vanessa "Van" Keefer in the acclaimed FX series Atlanta, created by Donald Glover. Thanks to her naturalistic and charismatic performance, she captured the attention of international critics and audiences, opening doors to major Hollywood productions.

​Since 2018, she has consolidated her career with prominent roles in blockbusters and auteur cinema. She played the mutant Domino in the superhero film Deadpool 2 (2018) and Sophie Dumond in the psychological drama Joker (2019), one of the greatest commercial successes of her career. She has also been part of the cast in films such as High Flying Bird (2019), The Harder They Fall (2021), and Bullet Train (2022). In addition to her on-screen work, she is an advocate for sustainability and uses her platforms to promote environmentally conscious lifestyles.
