enlighten is a workshop created for people who work directly with and create programing for high-risk youth. Coming from the understanding that high-risk youth are likely survivors of sexual, mental, physical and emotional abuse have witnessed and or are surrounded by violence and have grown up in a home where substances are abused. These youth are at high risk for developing the following: poor body image and eating disorders; substance use and abuse; depression, anxiety, chronic illness and are more likely to become victims and or perpetrators of bullying and teen violence. enlighten is an innovative collaborative intervention that increases sensitivity around trauma affecting youth and offers viable alternatives for youth delinquency.
enlightens a heart inspired empathetic dialogue encouraging compassionate conversation, inspiring change and offering effective solutions. The presentation focuses on the concept of Survivor Empowerment not Victimization of Recovery not Incarceration. We will explore the relationship with the related frameworks of conflict transformation and trauma informed gender specific healing, within the broader field of Peacebuilding-Healing Circles i.e.: Restorative Justice.
- Increase Sensitivity towards the root causes of youth disorders and delinquency
- Demonstrate Compassion Based CBT and DBT group facilitation skills and activities
- Understand the purpose and process of a Restorative Justice Healing Circle
- Describe and articulate alternatives to incarceration and suspension
